Pop-Up Covid19 Test Site For First Responders And Healthcare Workers

FRONTLINE COVID-19 RISKS - There are five Coronavirus drive up testing sites in Northwest Louisiana for people with a Doctor’s order to get tested.  Yesterday another drive-through testing site was opened in the parking lot of the Shreveport-Barksdale Highway Wal-Mart,  At a joint press conference yesterday – Dr. Martha Whyte – medical director for the Louisiana Department of Health Region 7 explained the reason for this site.

"The goal is to start with first responders but that includes healthcare workers," Whyte said. "We also want to be sure that people know it includes people working in nursing homes."

Dr. Whyte stressed that anyone who thinks they may have the Covid-19 illness,  should seek medical attention immediately.

"People who are getting terribly sick are getting terribly sick quickly," Whyte warned. "So don't take your symptoms for granted, if you start having a shortnews of breath, difficulty breathing, please take it seriously. Please call your call your doctor or go directly to the ER (emergency room), they'll take care of you." 

Those first responders and healthcare workers can receive the Coronavirus test free of charge, they  need to sign up online at the website QuestDiagnostics.com
