LSU Health Shreveport Chancellor Praises President Trump At RNC

GHALI SPEAKS AT RNC - The Republican National Convention kicked off last night in Charlotte North Carolina.  It had several different speakers taking to the podium to speak on behalf of President Donald Trump.  One speaker had a Northwest Louisiana connection.  Dr. G. E. Ghali is Chancellor of Louisiana-LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, he delivered a nearly four-minute speech last night at the RNC where he repeatedly praised President Trump for his coronavirus response.

"By harnassing the resources of the federal government and the private sector ," Ghali said, "President Trump's Operation Warp Speed is accelerating the testing, supply, and development,  distribution of therapeutics, diagnostics, and very shortly effective vaccines to counter Covid-19."

Dr. Ghali’s speech at the Republican National Convention came as Trump’s response to the coronavirus has received sharp criticism, as infections and deaths continue to climb- total deaths in the U.S. are at more than 177,000.  An Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research pollreleased Monday shows  support for Trump’s handling of the pandemic has lagged -- dropping from 44% approval  in March to 31% approval today.
