East Texas Cooling Centers and Resources*

EAST TEXAS - Gov. Greg Abbott issued a disaster proclamation for multiple East Texas counties on Friday citing severe weathers and tornados that caused widespread damage. Many are still without power in East Texas and local cooling centers are being offered to citizens without electricity.

According to the Texas Division of Emergency Management: local cooling centers that are being offered at the various locations listed below.

Gladewater
Lee-Bardwell Public Library
Open Monday or until power is restored to the area from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Kilgore
Forest Home Baptist Church
Open Monday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Danville Baptist Church

Longview
Longview Public Library
Open Monday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Regular library services will be unavailable during cooling station hours
Library card members will have unlimited access to wi-fi while others have access to free guest wi-fi for 30 minutes
Foster Middle School
Open Monday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Forest Park Magnet School
Open Monday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Diana
New Diana High School
Open Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Winona
Winona Volunteer Fire Department Station 1
Open Monday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Winnsboro
CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Winnsboro
Open Monday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

OTHER RESOURCES:
The Mt. Pleasant Civic Center will be a cooling center and will be open from noon to 9:30 p.m. until at least Tuesday. Free bags of ice will be distributed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. behind the Mount Pleasant Fire Department Central Fire Station at 728 East Ferguson Road.

According to the Panola County Sheriff's Office: the Intercommunity VFD station located at 134 FM 1186 and the Community 4 VFD stations on CR 3151 in DeBerry and FM 9 in Panola are available as cooling stations. Water is also available at the three stations, officials said.
