LA GULF WIND TECHNOLOGY - A special program to promote gulf wind turbine technology development in Louisiana was announced Monday, the program will be at the new research, training and technology facility at Avon-dale Global Gateway, located at New Orlean’s Port of South Louisiana in Jefferson Parish. Gulf Wind Technology in collaboration with Shell New Energies, LLC will create the Shell Gulf Wind Technology Accelerator program thanks to a $10 million investment by Shell.

The plan is to jump-start wind turbine production to meet anticipated wind-farm lease / development off the gulfcoast of Louisiana and Texas. GWT hopes to create a “demonstrator” turbine as early as 2024 as it combines research and development of new technologies with a workforce development facility aimed at “accelerating the Gulf of Mexico offshore wind learning curve.”
