HOTTER WEATHER Today’s weather is making headlines as daytime high temperatures are expected to be really hot, reaching into the mid and possibly upper 90’s. The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a heat advisory to be in effect from noon until 7pm for the Red River Radio Listening area. A few moments ago I spoke with Jason Hansford, a senior meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Shreveport to get a better idea of what we cab expect.
"We're expecting high temperatures to top out in the mid, possibly some upper 90's this afternoon," Hansford explained. "Unfortunately we're not going to mix out the humidity very much and so heat indices will range from 105 to 110 degrees"

Hansford said the heat pattern is expected to last through Sunday as temperatures are expected to only get hotter through the weekend. Health experts strongly urge to take precautions – stay hydrated, wear loose clothing and if you have to be outdoors – try to stay in the shade and take frequent breaks. Be sure to check on the elderly, make sure pets have plenty of shade and water. And don’t leave anyone in a parked car for any length of time as interior temperatures can rise to deadly levels in a matter of minutes.
According to the Meteorologist Hansford there is an anticipated cold front expected to move in our area Sunday night bringing cooler temperatures and rain showers.
