GOV EDWARDS AT LSMSA -  Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards was in Natchitoches yesterday afternoon to make a major announcement at the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts, which is one of the top schools in the country. Edwards said his administration  has secured funding for a new student dormitory to replace the outdated residence hall and explained it is a worthwhile investment.

"We have to invest in education in Louisiana. Education truly is synonymous with opportunity. And if we want you, but not just students all across Louisiana, whether it's K-12 or higher education,  to have the opportunity to reach your dreams right here in Louisiana, the key to that is investing in education."

The old residence hall has been considered  too costly to maintain.  $9 million dollars towards the $27 Million dollar cost of the new dormitory has already been spent on preliminary plans.   Construction is expected to begin in a few months.
