IS YOUR CHILD A BULLY OR A VICTIM? Cyber-Bullying.  Some  statistics  show  1 out of 5 children  will be Cyber-bullied at some point as social media is the new playground.     This evening Bossier Parish School System offers a free workshop presented by nationally renowned  Cyber-Bully expert  Dr. Russell Sabella who presents:  "Parenting in the 21st Century: Keeping Kids Out of High-Tech Trouble”.  He says parents should monitor their children to see if they are cyber-bullying or if they are victims of cyber-bullying.  "As a parent, it takes some time and work but we use technology to help us with technology.  For example, set up a Google-Alert and put in your child's name, e-mail address, any screen name, full names and when that shows up anywhere else, the parent can get an e-mail about that then go to the source and better evaluate the content."

Once a parent discovers either that their child is being cyber-bullied, Dr. Sabella urges them to remain calm. "First they should not overreact but rather respond and set a good role model."   Parents are encouraged to calmly work with teachers, school officials and learn about social media policies and how to deal with cyber-bully issues.  Dr. Sabella’s presentation:  “Parenting in the 21st Century: Keeping Kids Out of High-Tech Trouble” is a Free Workshop,  it takes place this evening from 6 – 7:30pm in the Bossier Instructional Center located at  2719 Airline Drive in Bossier City.
