Metropolitan Opera: Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmélites

Airs Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 12 noon. The 2018-19 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season concludes with Dialogues des Carmélites. Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the Met’s Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, conducts Poulenc’s devastating opera about an order of nuns who face martyrdom during the French Revolution. It stars Isabel Leonard and Adrianne Pieczonka in the leading roles of Blanche de la Force, a young noblewoman who joins the convent, and the new Prioress Madame Lidoine. Karita Mattila portrays Madame de Croissy, the first Prioress, who suffers an agonizing death from illness. The cast also includes Karen Cargill as Mother Marie, Erin Morley as Sister Constance, David Portillo as Blanche’s brother the Chevalier de la Force, and Jean-François Lapointe as the Marquis de la Force. Dialogues des Carmélites will be heard live over Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 12 noon  CT on Saturday, May 11.
