Metropolitan Opera: Wagner's Die Walküre

Airs Saturday, March 30, at 11:30 a.m. The 2018-19 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with Die Walküre, the second opera of Wagner’s four-part masterwork Der Ring des Nibelungen. The cast of preeminent Wagnerian singers is led by Christine Goerke as the warrior maiden Brünnhilde, and Greer Grimsley as her father, the god Wotan, who relies on his half-mortal offspring to lift the curse of the ring. The twins, Sieglinde and Siegmund, are Eva-Marie Westbroek and Stuart Skelton. Jamie Barton sings Wotan’s wife Fricka, and Günther Groissböck is Hunding. Philippe Jordan conducts the performance, part of the complete Ring cycle being broadcast this season. Die Walküre will be heard live over Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 11:30 a.m. CT on Saturday, March 30.
