ARK POLICE CHIEF RESIGNS (AP) — The police chief of a small  North  Arkansas community  has resigned after posting social media threats calling for violence  towards  Democrats.  Marshall, Arkansas  Mayor Kevin Elliott said in a statement over the weekend that Police Chief Lang Holland had resigned effective immediately.  Elliott said the city  "...strongly condemns Holland’s  posts ..." after his online comments drew outrage from local residents and other people nationwide..

SAVING FOR TEXAS COLLEGE TUITION:  The extended deadline for parents to enroll their children under one year old in the Texas Tuition Promise Fund is Sunday,  July 31st.  The program is a state-run 529 college savings fund where Texas residents can lock in their children's future college tuition at participating Texas colleges and universities at current rates.
