Aleksandra Kurzak sings the iconic title role as Violetta, the courtesan who gives up everything she possesses for an enduring love. Dmytro Popov is the impulsive Alfredo, and Quinn Kelsey is his moralistic father Giorgio Germont. Karel Mark Chichon conducts the Metropolitan Orchestra and Chorus.

Airs Saturday, December 14, 2019, at 12 noon. The 2019-20 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with Tchaikovsky’s thriller The Queen of Spades. Tenor Yusif Eyvazov stars as Hermann, an officer who succumbs to his obsession with gambling. In the role of her highly acclaimed Met debut, Norwegian soprano Lise Davidsen is Lisa, who is destroyed by her love for Hermann. The cast also features Larissa Diadkova as the notorious old Countess, as well as Igor Golovatenko as Prince Yeletsky, Elena Maximova as Pauline, and Alexey Markov as Tomsky.

Airs Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 12 noon.  The 2017-18 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with Massenet’s Thaïs in a broadcast from November 11, 2017, starring American soprano Ailyn Pérez in her role debut as the glamorous courtesan and title character. Canadian baritone Gerald Finley gave his first staged performance as the monk Athanaël, in Massenet’s intriguing exploration of the conflict between religious faith and sensual desire.

Airs Sarurday, March 31 at 12:00 noon. The 2011-12 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore. Juan Diego Flórez stars as the simple villager Nemorino, opposite Diana Damrau as the beautiful Adina; Mariusz Kwiecien is Adina’s swaggering suitor, Belcore; and Alessandro Corbelli is the potion-peddling Doctor Dulcamara. Donato Renzetti conducts L’Elisir d’Amore, which will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 12 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 31.

Anatoli Kotscherga makes his network debut as Ivan Khovansky, the leader of a conspiracy against Peter the Great, with Misha Didyk as his son, Andrei.
