Eight Texas mayors are among more than 150 across the country urging the US Senate to take action on voting rights legislation this month. Texas has close to two-dozen new laws that went into effect after January 1st. One of those laws requires nursing and assisted living facilities to post specific information on their websites. Louisiana’s governor has pardoned the Black man whose 1892 arrest and conviction led to the Supreme Court ruling that cemented “separate but equal” into U.S. law for half a century.
