Shreveport Mayor Announces "Safe Reopening Fund" For Small Biz

CITY SAFE REOPENING FUND -  In other city council news, Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins made a special announcement about  a  “Safe Reopening Fund” to support the city’s smallest businesses  that might need help financially to reopen after having been closed due to the Covid-19 emergency stay-at-home orders.  

"The city will make an initial $100,000 available for distribution in the form of forgiveable micro-loans to small business,"Perkins explained. "These funds are community-funded block grant dollars that are earmarked for economic development."

Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins announced a $100,000 fund for micro-loans to local businesses affected by the Covid-19 shutdown during city council meeting Tuesday 05.26.20.

Businesses will receive checks for $500, which can be used to cover the cost of personal protective equipment (PPE) for employees or as working capital to assist with reopening. Loans will be forgiven after 90 days if the recipients meet basic requirements. Shreveport businesses can apply at the website:  www.shreve.biz. through Friday, June 5th.  The City of Shreveport  partnered with Southern University in Shreveport, Louisiana -  Community Development Corporation to  established the Fund.
