San Francisco Symphony: Shostakovich's Symphony No. 15

Airs Monday, November 23, at 1 p.m. This week on the San Francisco Symphony, music director Michael Tilson Thomas leads the orchestra in Aaron Copland's celebration of a Havana damce hall in his Danzón cubano. Then tenor Toby Spence along with French hornist Robert Ward will be the soloists in a cycle of songs about the night with Benjamin Britten's Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings, Opus 31. Also on the program Dmitri Shostakovich's dramatic and politically charged Symphony No. 15 in A major and from the archives will hear the Divertimento in D major by Mozart.
