San Francisco Symphony

Airs Monday, August 10, at 1 p.m. This week on the San Francisco Symphony pianist Hélène Grimaud joins guest conductor Lionel Bringuier for a work by Brahms with emotion too big to be confined to two pianos. It's the Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor by Brahms, along with the aural kinetic Sculpture of Henri Dutilleux called Métaboles, and Maurice Ravel's twisted tribute to the waltz king in his La Valse. Also, from the archives, Michael Tilson Thomas leads the orchestra in a performance of Debussy's Nocturnes.
