Perkins Elected Mayor Of Shreveport

NEW MAYOR – Over the weekend, there was a run-off election in Louisiana  and  Shreveport elected a new mayor as well as a  number of new city council members,  and Louisiana keeps its interim Secretary of State .  The Shreevport Times reports – newcomer Adrian Perkins received 64% of the vote as more than 25,000 Shreveporters chose him over incumbent Mayor Ollie Tyler who  reportedly received fewer than 14,000 votes.  These are complete but unofficial results.

At age 33, Perkins is one of the youngest mayors to serve Shreveport.  Newer faces to the city council include – for District B, LeVette Fuller a Democrat,  Distict C, Republican John Nickelson, and District D- Grayson Boucher, also a Republican.

Ollie Tyler, current mayor of Shreveport received less than 14,000 of the close to 38,916 votes cast.

For the Louisiana Secretary of State contest - more than 300,000 voters chose Republican Kyle Ardoin over Democrat challenger Gwen Collins-Greenup who received 210,000 votes. Ardoin has been interim Secretary of State after Tom Schedler stepped  down  last April  amid sexual harassment allegations.
