A scene from Act IV of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro with Christiane Karg (in red) as Susanna and Rachel Willis-Sørensen as the Countess.

Airs Saturday, December 23, 2017, at 12 noon. The 2017-18 Metropolitan Opera radio broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro). Harry Bicket conducts the performance, which features bass-baritone Adam Plachetka as the wily valet Figaro, opposite soprano Christiane Karg, who makes her network broadcast debut as his fiancée, the maid Susanna. Soprano Rachel Willis-Sørensen stars as the Countess, a role she sang for her Met debut in 2014, opposite bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni, reprising his interpretation of the lascivious Count Almaviva, and mezzo-soprano Serena Malfi is the page, Cherubino. Sir Richard Eyre’s staging of Mozart’s masterpiece updates the setting to 1930s Seville. Le Nozze di Figaro will be heard live over Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 12:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, December 23.
