Lockheed Martin To Expand Camden, Arkansas Plant

CAMDEN, ARKANSAS JOBS - Lockheed Martin, a global security and aerospace company  will  be  expanding  it’s  center of excellence in Camden, Arkansas, investing  $142 million and adding  hundreds  of  jobs.  Arkansas Governor  Asa Hutchinson was at the  International Air Show in Paris, France yesterday. He was among several Lockheed-Martin  officials  as he  made  this announcement  via  a  Faceboook  cellphone video.

Lockheed-Martin  currently employs  approximately  700 people  at  the  Camden, Arkansas facility.  The company’s   plan  to  hire  326  new employees over the next few years will bring that number up to more

than 1,000.     The Lockheed Martin center of excellence produces the High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems and performs assembly for Integrated Air and Missile Defense products   for U.S. and allied military services.  According to an Arkansas Economic Development Commission report- “aircraft/spacecraft” was the state’s largest export in 2017, with the majority of those products being sold to France, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Hiring has begun for the new jobs in Camden and construction on the facilities, set to begin in August, is expected to be completed by 2022.

Chuck Smith brings more than 30 years' broadcast and media experience to Red River Radio. He began his career as a radio news reporter and transitioned to television journalism and newsmagazine production. Chuck studied mass communications at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia and motion picture / television production at the University of California at Los Angeles. He has also taught writing for television at York Technical College in Rock Hill, South Carolina and video / film production at Centenary College of Louisiana, Shreveport.
