ROBINSONS’ RESCUE:    You’ve probably seen stray animals from time-to-time,  maybe  it was a stray dog on the side of the road or a cat rummaging through a trash can and they can be not only a nuisance but a health problem as well.  Animal control picks up hundreds of animals and unfortunately many don’t get reunited with owners or adopted and so they get euthanized.  Well one organization in Shreveport-- Robinson’s Rescueis doing what it can to reduce the population of unwanted animals and lower the rate of euthanasia. It has a low-cost spay and neuter program and it also partners with animal shelters to make animals more adoptable.  I visited the clinic on Line Avenue recently to find out more, I caught up with Andrea Master Everson, DVM,  the president, medical director and veterinary surgeon at Robinson’s Rescue, as she finished a surgery on a beagle-mix. She explained the volume of cases the clinic handles each day.

Andrea Master Everson, DVM, president, medical director and veterinary surgeon at Robinson’s Rescue Low-Cost Spay & Neuter Services in Shreveport.

"Typically between 30 and 40 a day and we've done over 61,000 surgeries since 2008," Everson said. "We're part of this high quality, high volume spay/neuter task force and really focus on the overpopulation problem and decrease the amount of animals entering our shelters which decreases the amount of animals on the street."

Robinson’s Rescue is having a special event –Dogtoberfest  a fundraiser that involves good food, locally crafted beer, music and of course DOGS.  It takes place Septemer 19th.  To learn more CLICK: ROBINSON'S RESCUE DOGTOBERFEST
