Centenary College to host theater festival

Centenary College Department of Theatre

A theater festival will bring together Shreveport-area high school students this weekend for competitions and workshops.

Approximately 120 students will convene in the second year of the festival.

The Regional High School Theatre Festival opens Friday, Feb. 12 at Centenary College’s Marjorie Lyons Playhouse.

An intensive weekend of workshops will be put on by Centenary’s faculty who partnered with area theater professionals.

According to a news release, the festival will offer a range of workshops, like scene painting, mask work, improvisation and stage combat.

Trophies will be awarded to the top three performances, which are open to the public.

The opening ceremony is set for Friday, Feb. 12 at 5 p.m. The closing ceremony is set for Sunday, Feb. 14 at 5 p.m.

The ceremonies will be held at Marjorie Lyons Playhouse, 2700 Woodlawn Ave., Shreveport.
