The Louisiana Lottery Corporation just ended its second-best fiscal year ever, with about $643 million in revenue. Spokesperson Dustin Annison says the Lottery transferred almost $205 million to the state treasury to use for K-thru-12 public education. “And that about 13.4% better than we had budgeted and the state anticipated. So, it’s a very, very exciting time. We’re happy to be able to transfer that much-needed funding into our education system.”
Since the Lottery began in 1991, the corporation has transferred the earnings each year for public education totaling nearly $4.8 billion overall, which comes to 35% of the revenue.
In a news release, Louisiana Lottery Corporation President Rose Hudson stated, “The Lottery team is proud to have topped $600 million in sales for the third time in our 33-year history!” Hudson added, “We’re equally proud to have delivered nearly $205 million to the state treasury to support K-12 public education. We remain committed to innovating and providing exciting games and experiences for our players while continuing to generate significant returns for Louisiana.”
