Shreveport Police Department To Get 400 Body Cameras

SHREVEPORT POLICE BODY CAMERAS — The Shreveport Police Department has purchased 400 body cameras with the help of a group of concerned business people who formed last summer after the death of George Floyd.  Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins says  the cameras will serve two purposes.

"This is one of the many efforts we are undertaking to continue building community trust with law enforcement," Perkins explained. "The men and women who take an oath to protect us are faced with life-changing decisions daily when they don that badge and come in to work. A visual account of their actions will better protect them and the communities they serve."

The  purchase of the new body cameras and the equipment needed to support them will enable the department to outfit all officers on patrol and those who routinely interact with the public with the body cameras.  Police officers will  start  using the cameras this summer.
