TOO FAR OFF? - Arkansas’s Governor Asa Hutchinson will be leaving office after his term expires this year as he is term-limited. On Sunday the Republican Governor appeared on CNN’s State of the Union with Jake Tapper. The Republican Governor was asked if he was considering a run for the Presidency in 2024.
"That's too far off even to consider at this point, we've got to get through the pandemic that we're still dealing with in Arkansas," Hutchinson said. "The first thing that's on my plate from a national perspective is to make sure we are going in the right direction for Republican party that I have fought for 40 years that we have built into a majority party here in Arkansas. And I don't want to lose those historic roots that I believe are important for society."

The Governor was also asked about recent remarks former President Donald Trump made recently at the Republican National Committee meeting in Florida where he continued the false claim that the presidential election was stolen from him and also made some disparaging remarks about current GOP leadership.
"Well anything that's divisive is a concern and it's not helpful for us fighting the battles in Washington and at the state level. In some ways it's not a big deal in what he said but at the same time it draws attention and we don't need that," Hutchinson explained.
Hutchinson also expressed that the GOP needed unity as Republicans have slim numbers in Washington and have as he put it “..battles to fight.”
