American RadioWorks: The New Face of College

Airs Sunday, September 14 at 6 p.m. Just 20 percent of college-goers fit the stereotype of being young, single, full-time students who finish a degree in four years. The 21st Century college student is more likely to be older than traditional students, more likely to be female, working, low-income and Hispanic or African-American, and more likely to be a mom. Far different than three decades ago. She's less likely to attend college full time or finish in four years. This American RadioWorks documentary explores how universities are adapting to their new students. It explains changing demographics, and explores what colleges must do to remain engines of social mobility.
