LOUISIANA REOPENING - Many Louisiana towns and cities are anticipating reopening for business as the Covid-19 Emergency Stay-at-Home orders have closed non-essential business from normal operations. Last Week the City of Bossier, Louisiana’s Mayor Lo Walker held a COVID-19 Update via online video. Among several topics discussed was the Phase one re-opening guidelines as shared by the Centers for Disease Control and COVID-19 task force from the Trump Administration.
Mayor Walker did explain the various preparations that have been taking place at City Hall to allow safe public access for handling city business once restrictions are lifted.
"We've got stanchions and roped-areas to cue them up so they can efficiently get to the area hey need to go whether it be to pay a water bill or go into city court," explained Walker. "We've installed hand sanitizers or made hand sanitizers available in the lobby area."
Mayor Walker did say that Bossier’s Reopening depends a lot on Governor John Bel Edwards as today the Governor is expected to announce if he’ll lift restrictions designed to slow the spread of the coronavirus. The current statewide stay-at-home order expires May 15. The governor has come under increased pressure from Republicans and business owners to reopen the economy. State economists warn the economic damage from the virus combined with the recent oil price decline will exceed Hurricane Katrina’s financial hit.
