Community Renewal International of Shreveport aims to revitalize the Queensborough neighborhood with the opening of its tenth Friendship House. The house is patterned after a community center, but with a live-in coordinator who delivers programs and services in the neighborhood. This is the second Friendship House to open in Queensborough.

Trustees of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges will discuss the academic posture of Lon Morris College at its December meeting in Dallas. The Commission's chief of staff says it had planned a site visit this fall, but it was canceled by the college. The Jacksonville, Texas college filed for bankruptcy protection last summer, and it now seeks to liquidate much of its assets.

The Louisiana Film Prize, the first of its kind, wil be decided this weekend as audiences view the 20 finalist short films that were shot in Shreveport-Bossier. Creator Gregory Kallenberg says the $50,000 grand prize turned heads, and the audience participation is a new twist in the film festival world.
