America's Music Festivals: Golandsky International Piano Festival

Airs Monday, February 20 at 11:00 a.m.  The International Piano Festival kicks off from the Princeton University campus this July 7th through the 15th as part of the Golandsky Institute’s Summer Symposium. The festival celebrates piano masterworks and brings students, teachers and professional pianists together to hear wonderful music and hone their craft. The Golandsky Institute has been helping musicians learn proper technique and avoid music-related injury since its start in 2003.

These stories come from The Kitchen Sisters collection -- stories of black pioneers, self-made men and self-taught women, neighborhood heroes and visionaries. Metropolitan Opera Radio - Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia

Airs Saturday, February 18 at 12:00 noon.   The 2011-12 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Rossini’s comic favorite Il Barbiere di Siviglia – The Barber of Seville. Soprano Diana Damrau, who starred in the 2006 premiere of Bartlett Sher’s production, reprises her acclaimed performance as the spirited heroine Rosina.Rising South African tenor Colin Lee makes his Met role debut as Count Almaviva, the nobleman who disguises himself to win Rosina’s heart.
