The Lyric Opera of Chicago broadcasts returns to Red River Radio following the end of the Metropolitan Opera season with eight new productions! Since its early days, Lyric Opera of Chicago has been regarded as one of the top three US opera companies, along with the Met and San Francisco. Chicago boasts an opera company that’s second to none, with stellar casts, sets, and one of the finest orchestra in the world. Red River Radio is pleased to bring this glorious opera showcase back to our schedule. Opera lovers will enjoy and exciting season.

This week we present the Lyric Opera of Chicago with a production of Wagner's Das Rheingold starring Eric Owens as Wotan, Samuel Youn as Alberich, Štefan Margita as Loge, Tanja Ariane Baumgartner as Fricka, Wilhelm Schwinghammer as Fasolt, Tobias Kehrer as Fafner, and Okka von der Damerau as Erda. Sir Andrew Davis conducts the Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra and Chorus.

This week we present the Lyric Opera of Chicago in a production of Charles Gounod's Faust starring Benjamin Bernheim in the title role along with Ailyn Pérez as Marguerite, Christian Van Horn as Méphistophélès, and Edward Parks as Valentin. Emmanuel Villaume conducts the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus in this production.

This week we present the Lyric Opera of Chicago in a production of Mozart's Opera Buffa, Così Fan Tutte, staring Ana María Martínez as Fiordiligi, Marianne Crebassa Dorabellaas, Andrew Stenson as Ferrando, and Joshua Hopkins as Guglielmo with Alessandro Corbelli as Don Alfonso and Elena Tsallagova as Despina. James Gaffigan cvonducts the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus.

Our opera season continues this summer with the Lyric Opera of Chicago's performance of Vincenzo Bellini's I Puritani starring Albina Shagimuratova as Elvira, Lawrence Brownlee as Arturo, Anthony Clark Evans as Riccardo, and Adrian Sâmpetrean as Giorgio. Eric Einhorn directs, Michael Black is our chorus master, and Enrique Mazzolla will conduct the Lyric Opera orchestra and chorus in this production.
