Red River Radio Spotlight: Shreveport Symphony Orchestra with violinist Karen Gomyo

Airs Friday, September 21, 2018, at 11 a.m. Kermit Poling spoke with conductor Michael Butterman about the 2018-19 season opener by the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra with violinist Karen Gomyo. The concert features Tan Dun's Passacaglia: Secret of Wind and Birds; the Violin Concerto No. 2 by Shostakovich, and Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Also, on Sunday, September 23, at 3 p.m. is the first Chamber concert of the season with Clara Schumann's Works for Solo Piano, Robert Schumann's Fantasy Pieces for Clarinet & Piano, and the Clarinet Trio by Brahms. This chamber concert is free and will take place in Anderson Auditorium on the Centenary College Campus.

 

The 2019 silver medal winner of the International Global Music Award, Kermit Poling is Music Director of both the South Arkansas Symphony, the Marshall Symphony Orchestra, the Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet, the Associate Conductor of the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra as well as General Manager of the Red River Radio Network.
