BOSSIER WATER BILLING CYBER-BREACH? Some Bossier City water customers may have had personal credit or debit  information compromised due to a possible breach of an online city billing payment system. According to a Bossier City press release, some Bossier City water customers had  recently noticed unauthorized charges on cards they used to pay their water bills, and alerted city officials.

Upon learning of the potential breach, the City immediately shut down its online water bill payment system and brought in a cybersecurity expert to conduct a forensic analysis.  The Bossier City’s online payment website was shut down as a precaution. There was no mention if other payments made to other  city departments online were breached.

The city of Bossier press release recommends those who  made a payment through  Bossier City’s online website to check  credit card and bank accounts to see if credit or debit card information has been compromised.  Persons are advised to look for and  report any suspicious charges to your credit card company or bank and also advised to set up account fraud alerts.
