The first African-American female combat aviator in U.S. history, Vernice Armour, will fold her military lessons into a motivational speech set for Wednesday, July 25, at 7 p.m., at El Dorado Conference Center. Armour's appearance is part of the South Arkansas Community College lecture series. It's free and open to the public.
Shreveport yoga instructor Farida Hamza will teach an after school silent yoga program at Hamilton/Caddo Branch library in Shreveport beginning Aug. 14. Hamza earned her certification to teach silent yoga in April. Silent or visual yoga is not just for people who are deaf. She says silence has therapeutic qualities as part of any yoga practice.
